Kelcy Warren has helped to pioneer America’s natural gas renaissance, overseeing the construction of more than 41,000 miles of pipeline. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Southern Methodist University and an MBA in finance from Vanderbilt University.
In 1983, Warren joined Enterprise Products where he worked as chief financial officer until 1986 when he was named president and chief operating officer. He left Enterprise Products to found his own company in 1997 – Energy Transfer Capital Partners L.P.
In 1998, Warren was named president and CEO of El Paso Pipelines, Inc. (EPBI). When EPBI merged with Energy Transfer Partners in 2000, he became chairman of the company’s board of directors. He later served as CEO of ETP for five years, until he was named chairman and CEO in December 2005.
Kelcy Warren took ETP public in August 2006 on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol ETE. The company has expanded through organic growth and a series of strategic acquisitions, including recent deals to merge with Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P., Southern Union Co., Midwest Transmission (MiliTech Acquisition Corp.) and Rover Pipeline.
Kelcy Warren serves on numerous boards and advisory panels for organizations including the Natural Resources Defense Council and the North American Pipeline Industry Association. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Southern Methodist University, the Dallas Museum of Art and the New Mexico School of Mines. In addition, he is a member of the advisory board of The Forum for Academic & Institutional Advancement at SMU.
In 1989, Warren was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (NYSE: EPD). He served as chairman from 1998 to 2000, when his company merged with Energy Transfer Partners L.P., which he founded in 1997. Warren currently serves as chairman emeritus of EPD’s board.
