Yubo The Meeting Platform

With technology, individuals do not have to meet to make friends physically. In France, a group realized the gap between technology and meeting new people and decided to launch a new technology called Yubo. Yubo is a technology that allows people to make friendships, chat and play games on their gadgets, including mobile phones, computers, and laptops. The application is safe and has observed all the regulations required by the authority. In their recent mission to make it even safer, the platforms’ managers and developers decided to check the age of their users.

The startup registers users who are under 50 years and above 13 years. In May 2022, the company began verifying its users’ age to alleviate child abuse. Those who are 13 years are separated from older users. Children who want to use the platform for their self-gain might pretend to be above 13 years to be allowed to use it. Most teenagers need identification cards, and according to the organization, you cannot ask for photos of their identification documents. Yubo is working with other technology firms, including Yoti, to identify the age of the users. Yoti uses a camera to take a photo of the face of the user and request a short video; with this, the technology can estimate the age of the individual, and the method is 98.9% accurate. The company began by verifying the age of the users, who are 13 and 14 years, and then proceeded to the older users. Those using iPhones were the first to be verified, followed by android users.

In the case of inconsistency between Yoti and age identification, Yubo requires the user to show their full identification documents for accuracy. For safety, the company is ready to do away with accounts they feel are used illegally. Sacha Lazimi is the co-creator and the Chief of the company; he noted that the company is making the platform a safe place for meeting new people and playing games.
