Wes Edens

Wes Edens is a businessman involved in many different financial ventures. He founded Fortress Investment Group and co-founded New Fortress Energy Company and Tudor Investment Corporation. At one time, he was named one of Forbes Magazine’s 400 Richest people in America. Forbes Magazine called him “the world’s most respected hedge fund manager.” He has a degree in finance from the University of Michigan.

Wes Edens is the founder and CEO of Fortress Investment Group, LLC (“Fortress”), a private investment corporation headquartered in New York City. In that role, Wes is responsible for advancing Fortress’ stated mission of investing assets with a long-term strategic focus while providing liquidity and independence to its investors. Mr. Edens currently serves as a member of Fortress’s Management Committee and is Chairman of the Company’s Executive Committee. Before founding Fortress in 1998, Wes was employed at Tudor Investment Corporation (now Vanguard Group), where he managed the firm’s fixed-income strategies using proprietary models known as “the Larchman models.” During his 31-year career, Wes has also held numerous senior executive positions in the financial services sector, including Chief Financial Officer for Fidelity Capital Management and Chairman and CEO of Wesco Investment Company.

Wes’s early career began at the New England Life Insurance Company (NELICO) in Boston, where he held several positions from 1968-1975. He then served Fidelity as a Senior Investment Executive at Fidelity Management & Research Company (FMRC), managing investment portfolios that included fixed-income products for institutional clients. From 1979 until 1990, Wes was a Managing Director at Tudor Investment Corporation (Tudor), an asset management firm. While there, Mr. Edens managed Tudor’s fixed-income product line using proprietary quantitative models known as “the Larchman models.

He served as the Chief Financial Officer for six years and was the firm’s President and CEO for three years.

In 2006, Mr. Edens became a managing partner at Fortress. Fortress focuses its investment on investing in Fortress’ stated mission of supporting assets with a long-term strategic focus while providing liquidity and independence to its investors.
