The Top 3 Disasters that the Colcom Foundation is Fighting Against

The Colcom Foundation was created in 1996 by Cordelia S. May to carry on her work of protecting the planet from various existential crises that threaten our species. These days the problems we face are more obvious than ever and ignoring them won’t do us any good. This is why Colcom Foundation is working to overcome these problems by finding logical solutions that benefit us all. That said, they are focusing on three imminent disasters that we face as of today.

Overpopulation

This one is pretty self-explanatory. Anyone with a brain can tell you that the Earth only has so many resources to go around and when they become depleted, human civilization will collapse. This is why Cordelia S. May was so worried about it.

To deal with this problem, the Colcom Foundation is teaching people about family planning and contraceptive usage. This will keep unwanted children from being born and help the population to level out over the coming decades.

Ecological Destruction

Urbanization continues to grow at a rapid pace. This destroys many green spaces and ecosystems. At this rate, entire food chains could cease to function as more and more species go extinct.

The Colcom Foundation is working with many groups in Pennsylvania to push back against this urbanization and protect green spaces. So far they have had much success in doing so and have saved many plant and animal species. Colcom Foundation’s work has also facilitated proactive environmental advocacy and protection by groups, including the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, WeConservePA, Westmoreland Land Trust, Protect PT, and Fair Shake Environmental Legal Services.

The Collapse of Civilization

The consequences of the many problems we face come in two stages. First would be the collapse of human civilization as we know it. The second would be outright extinction. The Colcom Foundation knows that we need to first focus on keeping our civilization going. Their objectives are helping to counteract the forces working against us and0

s around the world. This is one of the reasons that the Colcom Foundation is working hard to preserve these greenspaces and has partnered with other like-minded organizations to get the job done.

So far Colcom has been successful in pushing back against the urban sprawl in Pennsylvania and will continue its work to preserve as many ecosystems as possible. Going forward they expect to be able to protect many more green spaces in the future. Visit this page for additional information.
