Nick Millican: London Tenants Spending More Money in Rent

According to real estate expert Nick Millican, London is known for being one of the least affordable places to live in the United Kingdom. In 2021 and 2022, the average renter spent 35 percent of their income on renting a house. People who are not financially well off are spending even more money on rent.

In fact, many low-income households are spending over 46 percent of their monthly income on rent. Rent prices are going up. Nick Millican explains that this is one of the main reasons that people are spending more of their income on it.

Rents have increased by 12 percent within the last year.  While rent is increasing, many people have noticed that their wages have remained the same; Nick Millican recalls. Many tenants say that they have been unfairly evicted. According to City Analysis, there are 300, no-fault evictions each week.

Mayor Sadiq Khan is trying to pass a law that will prevent landlords from evicting tenants with just two months notice. The Renters Reform Bill can prevent all no-fault evictions. Real estate agents like Nick Millican can inform this information with their clients before making any kind of decision.

Wales is currently the most affordable place in the United Kingdom. The average renter is only spending about 23.2 percent of their income on rent. Nick Millican works in asset development and investment management. He helps people find homes and property that they can afford.
