As more and more developers branch into Internet of Things (IoT) devices, they are on the lookout for tools to make development both more efficient and innovative, Jason Hope explains. With IBM’s recently unveiled IoT portal, IBM DeveloperWorks Recipes, developers have an invaluable resource at their disposal.
This portal explains best practices for getting IoT devices to interface with the Cloud, as well as for mining the data collected by these devices. Noted futurist Jason Hope believes that IBM’s portal fills a previously empty niche in the IoT environment and could be the key to driving future growth.
Among the reported features of DeveloperWorks Recipes are also details on getting IoT devices to communicate with each other as well as the Cloud. Developers can even use IBM’s Bluemix platform, where they can learn how to implement advanced analytics, which Jason Hope views as one of the most important functions of the Internet of Things.
Bluemix also offers more than 100 other tools in an easily accessed, open-source platform, putting these resources into the hands of developers everywhere and encouraging innovation.
While DeveloperWorks supplies developers with sample code, along with APIs and SDKs, the aim is to make them better at writing their own code. Jason Hope finally comments that it also connects them with experts to help answer their questions.
