Many people know Ben Roethlisberger as the great Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. Roethlisberger was a sports legion even before he came to the NFL. In high school, Roethlisberger played several different sports: football, basketball, and baseball. He was named the team captain for all three. During his senior year, he set state records for throwing 4042 yards, resulting in 54 touchdowns. He also ran in for seven touchdowns that year. His accomplishments on the field led him to earn the title of Toledo Blade Player of the Year.
Roethlisberger did not slowdown in college. He attended Miami of Ohio and was a three-year starter. He broke every passing record the school had. His stellar college career led him to be a first-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2004. Ben Roethlisberger was named Offensive Rookie of the Year. Out of his first 100 games played at home, he won 74. Roethlisberger spent his entire career and went on to set many records and won two Super Bowls. He retired from football in 2022.
There is no doubt that Roethlisberger was a great athlete. However, he hopes to be remembered for more than his time on the gridiron. Roethlisberger wants to be known as a great family man. One of his life missions is to care for and nurture his family. He credits his father for being a role model. Ben Roethlisberger wants to help others care for and nurture their families, especially fathers and sons. He and his family have set up the Rothlisberger Family Foundation.
The foundation provides resources and encouragement to other families looking to strengthen their bond. Roethlisberger even bought land to build a father-and-son retreat.
