Fast food has played a large part in American cuisine. The ease of access, quick service, and ability to eat on the go helps busy Americans get through their day. While many save on time, they give up eating healthy going the fast-food route. Once place is looking to change this and provide healthier fast-food options. Amy’s Kitchen has long served frozen food in grocery stores and is now looking to conquer the fast-food market with healthy options. Currently, they only have locations in California and have a variety of foods from burritos, pizzas, and soups.
Amy’s Kitchen stated back in the 1980’s. Rachel and Andy had trouble looking for organic vegetarian foods that tasted great as well. This lack of options led them to start their own company so that they could provide this to others. What first started as pot pies, has now expanded into so much more. Named after their first born, Amy’s continues to grow in both grocery stores and in the fast-food industry.
Amy’s Kitchen not only cares about providing healthy food options, they also aim to be environmentally friendly as well. More and more people are searching for new vegan and vegetarian recipes and restaurants throughout the country. For most, the reason is to be healthier and more conscious about what they consume. Others are also looking at the impact it has on the environment. Along with the preferred taste, a plant-based diet has a smaller negative impact on the environment versus a meat-based diet.
