Alumnus Kelcy Warren’s $12 Million Gift Elevates UTA’s Resource and Energy Engineering Program

Kelcy Warren, an esteemed alumnus of The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and he is the executive
chairman of Energy Transfer LP, has made a transformative $12 million philanthropic
investment in the university. This generous gift, the largest single
philanthropic contribution in UTA’s history, will play a pivotal role in
propelling UTA to the forefront of the resource and energy engineering (REE) field.

With a strong commitment to his alma mater, Warren recognizes the critical need for highly
skilled graduates who possess the expertise to manage energy resources. His
visionary contribution will support the development of UTA’s innovative REE
bachelor’s degree program, which will equip students with the necessary
knowledge and skills to address the pressing energy challenges of today and tomorrow.

To honor Kelcy Warren’s extraordinary generosity, UTA will name three endowed academic
positions, including the prestigious Kelcy Warren Endowed Professorship in
Resource and Energy Engineering. Additionally, the gift will support
state-of-the-art REE laboratory space, create the Kelcy Warren Career Experience
Center, and provide scholarship and fellowship opportunities for REE students.
This comprehensive support will create a vibrant learning environment and open
doors for students to pursue rewarding careers in the energy industry.

Scheduled to launch in fall 2023, UTA’s REE program will be the first of its kind in the United States.
It will prepare students to apply engineering principles to the design,
development, and operational evaluation of energy generation, storage,
conversion, and distribution systems. By integrating both conventional and
renewable energy sources, the program will equip graduates with a diverse skill
set that encompasses engineering and business interests.

Warren’s commitment to UTA extends beyond this transformative gift. Kelcy Warren has
previously supported the university through multiple donations, totaling over
$4 million. His dedication to furthering education and fostering innovation has
made a lasting impact on the university community.

UTA is deeply grateful to Warren for his transformative investment. This visionary
contribution will not only elevate UTA’s REE program but also establish the
university as a national leader in the industry. With Warren’s support, UTA
will continue to shape the future of energy engineering and produce talented
graduates who will drive innovation and make a significant impact in the
dynamic energy sector. As UTA continues to pave the way for excellence in
education and research, Warren’s philanthropy serves as an inspiration for
others to invest in the future of STEM education and contribute to the
advancement of society. See related link for additional information.
