Member of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Tom Keane

Tom Keane is the Chief Technology Officer for Microsoft. He is responsible for ensuring that Microsoft’s products and cloud technologies are the best in the world. Before taking this position, Tom was a Senior Vice President at Cisco Systems. He led its data center business and was the General Manager of Cisco’s Unified Computing System. 

 

The cloud services engineer Tom Keane also worked at Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and Honeywell International before joining Microsoft in 2010 to lead corporate I.T. strategy. The software developer graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a B.S. in Computer Science and held an M.B.A. from Boston University’s School of Management and a Master of Engineering Management from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.

 

The cloud services engineer is a National Academy of Engineering and the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics member and is on advisory boards at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Tom Keane was a two-term chairman of Computing America.

This is a senior policy group representing the U.S. I.C.T. companies. The software developer and engineer Tom Keane has been on numerous industry boards, including CEVA Logicon, P.T.C., and Red Hat. He co-founded Philadelphia’s FIRST Robotics program in 1992, leading it to become one of the world’s largest combat robotics competitions, with over 170 teams throughout North America and Europe. 

 

He has been named to multiple Chief Information Officers (C.I.O.) lists and has been recognized as one of America’s Best Leaders by U.S. News & World Report. Tom Keane is the author of three books, including Management Strategies for Technology Professionals (Addison Wesley, 1995), the first textbook written on Information Technology Management.
