Doug Haynes is the managing partner of Council Advisors (formerly G100) and the president of The Council. After graduating from West Virginia University in mechanical engineering, he is also a philanthropist and executive advisor—scholar at the Darden Graduate School of Business. After working as a software developer for the CIA and as a design engineer and marketing expert at GE Plastics, McKinsey and Company employed him in 1992. While at McKinsey, he worked at the firm’s Atlanta, London, Connecticut, and New York offices, where he helped shape the firm’s Basic Materials, Operations, and High Tech practices. He was elevated to regional manager of the Northeast after 22 years with the organization. He most recently served as President of Point72 Asset Management. While in charge, he outperformed his peers, reinstated the founder’s SEC license, and built a venture capital arm, a record-breaking single round of financing for an investing business. When not working at Council Advisors, he serves as Managing Partner and President of the Council, which he has held since 2012.
He is also a founding member of the non-profit board of The Center for Global Enterprise, which encourages the development of global business leadership. Doug Haynes, for him, philanthropy is all about helping those in need and supporting those who served their country. He has been a board member of both organizations since they were founded. Doug serves as a Board Advisor for Cohen Veteran’s Bioscience, and he sits on the boards of four technology startups, including ChainIQ, FRISQ, Vega Factor, and Obsidian Asset Management. The Darden School of Business, Villanova University, and the Randolph Macon Academy all have him on their boards as an advisor. Doug Haynes and Laurice Haynes have two children and live in Scarborough, New York. T2X
