The OSI Group, a world leader in providing quality products and custom solutions for the food industry, is an American company with locations worldwide.
The company’s recent acquisition of a Tyson Foods Plant in the south side of Chicago has helped tremendously to provide support to the infrastructure of the company nationwide and to expand its capabilities in the local Chicago area. The plant was purchased for $7.2 million and the OSI group offered jobs to the over 200 employees that were set to lose theirs because of the eminent closure of the Tyson plant.
OSI has also recently bought out BAHO Food, which is a Dutch company that manufactures meat products and other foods for the food service industry. With plants in the Netherlands and Germany, Baho brings 5 companies to the table and these are Q Smart Life, Henri van de Bilt, Gelderland Frischwaren, Vital Convenience, and Bakx Foods. The company has a 60 year history and sells convenience foods, deli meats, and snacks to people in 18 European countries.
The OSI group has been named a top 100 American company, and their CEO and Chairman, Sheldon Lavin, has had a big part in this honor. He was given the Global Visionary Award by India’s Vision World Academy recently and has been recognized as a leader with excellent qualities for many years. He took OSI Group from being a domestic food company to the global billion dollar food processor it is now. His history of experience in the food industry as well as the financial industry have both helped him tremendously.
